Quantum Resistance
Quantum resistance refers to the ability of cryptographic systems to remain secure against the potential threats posed by quantum computers. Unlike classical computers, which use bits to process information, quantum computers utilize quantum bits or qubits, allowing them to solve certain problems much faster. This capability could potentially break widely used encryption methods, such as RSA and ECC, which rely on the difficulty of specific mathematical problems.
To counteract this threat, researchers are developing quantum-resistant algorithms, also known as post-quantum cryptography. These new algorithms are designed to be secure against both classical and quantum attacks, ensuring that sensitive data remains protected even in a future where quantum computing is prevalent.
