Qalqalah
Qalqalah is a phonetic feature in Arabic that refers to the pronunciation of certain consonants with a bouncing or echoing sound. It occurs with the letters ق (qaf), ط (ta), ب (ba), ج (jeem), and د (dal) when they appear as a consonant at the end of a word. This effect is produced by briefly stopping the airflow before releasing it, creating a distinct sound.
There are two types of Qalqalah: Qalqalah Kubra and Qalqalah Sughra. Qalqalah Kubra occurs when the letter is at the end of a word, while Qalqalah Sughra happens when the letter is in the middle of a word but followed by a vowel. Mastering Qalqalah is essential for proper pronunciation in Arabic and enhances clarity in speech.
