Pyrenean ibex
The Pyrenean ibex was a wild goat species native to the Pyrenees mountains in southwestern Europe. Known for its impressive curved horns and robust build, it adapted well to steep, rocky terrains. The species primarily fed on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation found in its mountainous habitat.
Unfortunately, the Pyrenean ibex became extinct in 2000, largely due to overhunting and habitat loss. Conservation efforts have since focused on protecting other ibex species and their habitats to prevent similar fates. The last known individual, named Celia, was found dead in the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park.
