Pyramid Lake
Pyramid Lake is a large, saline lake located in Nevada, approximately 30 miles northeast of Reno. It covers an area of about 125 square miles and is known for its striking blue waters and unique geological features, including tufa formations. The lake is situated at an elevation of 3,800 feet and is part of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe reservation.
The lake is fed by the Truckee River and is a remnant of the ancient Lake Lahontan, which existed during the last Ice Age. Pyramid Lake is home to several fish species, including the native Lahontan cutthroat trout, making it a popular destination for fishing and outdoor recreation.
