Puerto Rican Parrot
The Puerto Rican Parrot is a critically endangered bird native to Puerto Rico. It is known for its vibrant green plumage, with a distinctive red forehead and blue wing feathers. This parrot primarily inhabits the El Yunque National Forest, where it feeds on fruits, seeds, and flowers.
Efforts to conserve the Puerto Rican Parrot include habitat restoration and breeding programs. The population has increased from just a few dozen individuals in the 1970s to over 200 today, but it remains vulnerable due to habitat loss and predation by invasive species.
