Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a federal program designed to forgive the remaining balance on Direct Loans for borrowers who work in qualifying public service jobs. To be eligible, borrowers must make 120 qualifying monthly payments while employed full-time by a government or non-profit organization.
The program aims to encourage individuals to pursue careers in public service by alleviating the burden of student loan debt. Eligible jobs include those in education, health care, and public safety, among others. Borrowers must also complete the necessary paperwork to ensure their employment qualifies for forgiveness.
