Public Ivy
"Public Ivy" refers to a group of public universities in the United States that offer an education comparable to that of the prestigious Ivy League schools. These institutions are known for their strong academic programs, distinguished faculty, and vibrant campus life, while also being more affordable than private Ivy League universities.
The term was popularized by Richard Moll in his 1985 book, where he identified several schools that provide high-quality education without the high price tag. Examples of Public Ivy schools include University of California, Berkeley, University of Michigan, and University of Virginia.
