Pubic Louse
Pubic lice, also known as Pthirus pubis, are tiny parasitic insects that infest the coarse hair in the pubic area. They are commonly referred to as "crabs" due to their crab-like appearance. These lice feed on human blood and can cause itching and discomfort. They are typically spread through close physical contact, including sexual activity.
In addition to the pubic area, pubic lice can also be found in other coarse body hair, such as underarm hair and facial hair. Treatment usually involves over-the-counter or prescription topical insecticides. Maintaining good hygiene and avoiding sharing personal items can help prevent infestations.
