Project Blue Book
Project Blue Book was a United States Air Force program that investigated reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) from 1952 to 1969. Its main goals were to determine if UFOs posed a threat to national security and to analyze scientific data related to these sightings. The project collected thousands of reports, many of which were explained through conventional means, while others remained unexplained.
The program was part of a broader effort during the Cold War to address public concern about UFOs and potential extraterrestrial life. In 1969, Project Blue Book was officially closed, concluding that the majority of sightings were misidentified aircraft, weather phenomena, or hoaxes.
