Progressive Aphasia
Progressive Aphasia is a neurological syndrome that affects a person's ability to communicate. It is characterized by a gradual decline in language skills, impacting speaking, understanding, reading, and writing. This condition is often associated with frontotemporal dementia, which leads to changes in the brain that specifically target language-related areas.
There are three main types of Progressive Aphasia: nonfluent variant, semantic variant, and logopenic variant. Each type presents different challenges, such as difficulty forming sentences or understanding words. Early diagnosis and intervention can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life for those affected.
