Princess Maud of Wales was born on November 26, 1869, as the daughter of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. In 1896, Maud married Prince Carl of Sweden, who later became King Haakon VII of Norway. After her husband's ascension to the Norwegian throne in 1905, she became Queen Maud of Norway.
