Primary Hyperparathyroidism is a condition where the parathyroid glands produce too much parathyroid hormone (PTH). This hormone helps regulate calcium levels in the body. When there is excess PTH, it can lead to high calcium levels in the blood, which may cause symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and kidney stones.
The most common cause of Primary Hyperparathyroidism is a benign tumor on one of the parathyroid glands, known as an adenoma. In some cases, it can also be due to hyperplasia, where all the glands become overactive. Treatment often involves surgery to remove the affected gland, helping to restore normal calcium levels.
