President of Turkey
The President of Turkey is the head of state and government in Turkey, responsible for overseeing the executive branch and representing the country both domestically and internationally. The president is elected by the public for a term of five years and can serve a maximum of two terms.
The role of the president includes appointing ministers, issuing decrees, and ensuring the implementation of laws. The position was significantly strengthened in 2017 when a referendum transitioned Turkey from a parliamentary system to a presidential system, granting the president greater powers in governance.
