President of Romania
The President of Romania is the head of state and represents the country both domestically and internationally. Elected for a term of five years, the president has the authority to appoint the prime minister, oversee the military, and ensure the constitution is upheld.
The role also includes the power to propose legislation and call for referendums. The president works closely with the Parliament of Romania and other government officials to address national issues and promote the country's interests. The current president, as of October 2023, is Klaus Iohannis, who has been in office since 2014.
