President William McKinley
President William McKinley served as the 25th President of the United States from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. He was born on January 29, 1843, in Niles, Ohio, and became known for his leadership during the Spanish-American War, which resulted in the U.S. acquiring territories like Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines.
McKinley's presidency focused on economic issues, including the promotion of protective tariffs to support American industry. He was re-elected in 1900 but was shot by an anarchist in September 1901 and died a week later. His vice president, Theodore Roosevelt, succeeded him.
