The President of the Maldives is the head of state and government of the island nation located in the Indian Ocean. This position is responsible for overseeing the executive branch, implementing laws, and representing the country in international affairs. The President is elected for a five-year term and can serve a maximum of two terms.
The Maldives has a multi-party system, and the President is chosen through a popular vote. The role includes appointing cabinet members and ensuring the country's development and stability. The current President, Mohamed Muizzu, took office in November 2023, succeeding Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
