Premiership
The term "Premiership" typically refers to the highest level of professional football (soccer) league in a country. In England, the Premier League is the most well-known example, featuring 20 teams that compete annually for the championship title. Established in 1992, it has become one of the most popular and lucrative football leagues in the world.
In addition to England, other countries also have their own premierships, such as the Scottish Premiership in Scotland. These leagues operate on a promotion and relegation system, where the best-performing teams move up to higher divisions, while the lowest-performing teams drop down.
