Pratincoles
Pratincoles are small to medium-sized wading birds belonging to the family Glareolidae. They are typically found in open habitats such as grasslands, wetlands, and coastal areas. Pratincoles have long wings and tails, which help them in agile flight, and they are known for their distinctive, pointed bills. These birds primarily feed on insects and small invertebrates, often catching their prey in mid-air.
There are several species of pratincoles, including the Oriental Pratincole and the Black-winged Pratincole. They are migratory birds, with some species traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds. Pratincoles are often seen in flocks, especially during migration, and are known for their graceful flight patterns.
