Poughkeepsie Bridge
The Poughkeepsie Bridge is a historic cantilevered bridge that spans the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, New York. Completed in 1889, it was originally built for railroad traffic and was one of the longest bridges in the world at the time. The bridge measures approximately 6,768 feet in length and features a distinctive design with steel trusses.
After its closure in 1974, the bridge was repurposed as a pedestrian walkway and is now part of the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. This transformation allows visitors to enjoy scenic views of the river and surrounding landscapes while learning about the bridge's history.
