Polygonal Shapes
Polygonal shapes are flat, two-dimensional figures made up of straight lines that connect at points called vertices. The simplest polygon is a triangle, which has three sides, while more complex polygons can have many sides, such as a pentagon with five sides or a hexagon with six. The total number of sides determines the name of the polygon.
Polygons can be classified as regular or irregular. Regular polygons have all sides and angles equal, like a square or an equilateral triangle. Irregular polygons, on the other hand, have sides and angles of different lengths and measures, such as a scalene triangle or an uneven quadrilateral.
