Poly Styrene
Poly Styrene was the stage name of Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, a British singer and songwriter known for her role as the lead vocalist of the punk band X-Ray Spex. Born on July 3, 1957, she became a prominent figure in the late 1970s punk scene, recognized for her distinctive voice and unique style.
Her most famous song, "Oh Bondage Up Yours!" addressed themes of consumerism and feminism, reflecting the punk ethos. After her music career, Poly Styrene explored other artistic avenues, including visual art and writing, before her passing on April 25, 2011.
