Polish-Lithuanian forces
The term "Polish-Lithuanian forces" refers to the military units that were part of the historical union between the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This union, known as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, existed from 1569 to 1795 and created a powerful state in Central and Eastern Europe. The combined forces played a significant role in various conflicts, including wars against the Teutonic Knights and the Swedish Empire.
These forces were characterized by a diverse composition, including cavalry, infantry, and artillery units. The famous Winged Hussars, a cavalry unit known for their distinctive wings and effective tactics, were a notable part of the Polish-Lithuanian military. The collaboration between Polish and Lithuanian troops helped shape the military history of the region during the Commonwealth's existence.
