Plame Affair
The Plame Affair refers to the controversy surrounding the outing of Valerie Plame, a covert CIA officer, in 2003. This incident occurred after her husband, Joseph Wilson, publicly criticized the Bush administration's justification for the Iraq War, specifically the claim that Iraq sought uranium from Africa.
Following Wilson's statements, Plame's identity was leaked to the press, leading to allegations that senior officials in the Bush administration were involved in the disclosure. The investigation into the leak resulted in the indictment of Lewis "Scooter" Libby, a former aide to Vice President Dick Cheney, for perjury and obstruction of justice.
