Pizzagate
"Pizzagate" refers to a conspiracy theory that emerged during the 2016 U.S. presidential election. It falsely claimed that a Washington, D.C. pizzeria, Comet Ping Pong, was involved in a child trafficking ring linked to prominent political figures, including Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman, John Podesta.
The theory gained traction on social media, leading to real-world consequences, including a man entering the pizzeria with a firearm to investigate the claims. Multiple investigations found no evidence supporting the allegations, and the theory has been widely discredited by law enforcement and fact-checking organizations.
