Pittsburgh Astronomical Society
The Pittsburgh Astronomical Society (PAS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the study and enjoyment of astronomy. Founded in 1859, it serves both amateur astronomers and the general public by providing educational resources, observing events, and community outreach programs. The society operates the Buhl Planetarium and offers access to telescopes and other astronomical equipment.
Members of the PAS participate in various activities, including star parties, lectures, and workshops. The society also collaborates with local schools and organizations to inspire interest in science and space exploration. Through these efforts, the PAS fosters a sense of community among astronomy enthusiasts in the Pittsburgh area.
