Piston Jet Engines
A piston jet engine, also known as a reciprocating engine, uses pistons to convert fuel into mechanical energy. This type of engine operates by drawing in air and fuel, compressing the mixture, and igniting it to produce power. The movement of the pistons turns a crankshaft, which can then drive a propeller or generate electricity.
Unlike turbofan engines commonly found in commercial aircraft, piston jet engines are typically used in smaller aircraft and some military applications. They are known for their efficiency at lower altitudes and speeds, making them suitable for general aviation and light aircraft.
