Pine Siskin
The Pine Siskin is a small finch, measuring about 4.5 to 5.5 inches in length. It has a streaky brown and yellow plumage, with a distinctive sharp, pointed bill. These birds are often found in coniferous forests, especially where Pine trees are abundant, and they are known for their social behavior, often forming flocks.
Pine Siskins primarily feed on seeds, particularly those from sunflowers and thistles. They are also known to visit bird feeders, where they enjoy nyjer (thistle) seeds. Their cheerful, twittering calls can often be heard in their natural habitats, especially during the breeding season.
