Piast dynasty
The Piast dynasty was the first historical ruling dynasty of Poland, established in the 10th century. It is named after its legendary founder, Piast the Wheelwright, and played a crucial role in the formation of the Polish state. The dynasty included notable rulers such as Mieszko I, who is credited with the Christianization of Poland, and his son Bolesław I the Brave, who expanded the territory and influence of the kingdom.
The Piast dynasty ruled Poland until the late 14th century, when it was succeeded by the Jagiellonian dynasty. Throughout its reign, the Piasts contributed to the development of Polish culture, law, and governance, laying the foundation for future Polish states.
