Physiognomy
Physiognomy is the study of a person's facial features and expressions to infer their character or personality traits. This practice dates back to ancient civilizations, where it was believed that physical appearance could reveal inner qualities. Although it gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries, it has since been criticized for its lack of scientific basis.
Despite its historical significance, modern psychology and anthropology have largely dismissed physiognomy as a reliable method for understanding individuals. Today, it is often associated with stereotypes and biases, leading to ethical concerns about its application in various fields, including criminal justice and employment.
