Photographic Emulsion
Photographic emulsion is a light-sensitive layer used in traditional photography. It consists of a mixture of silver halide crystals suspended in a gelatin base. When exposed to light, these crystals undergo a chemical change, allowing the image to be captured on film or photographic paper.
After exposure, the emulsion must be developed using specific chemicals to reveal the image. This process involves several steps, including developing, stopping, and fixing, which ultimately make the image permanent. Photographic emulsion is essential for creating high-quality photographs and is a fundamental component of film photography.
