Phonetic Scripts
Phonetic scripts are writing systems that represent the sounds of spoken language. Unlike traditional alphabets, which may include letters that represent whole words or concepts, phonetic scripts focus on individual sounds, or phonemes. This allows for a more accurate representation of pronunciation, making it easier to learn and understand languages.
One well-known example of a phonetic script is the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), which provides symbols for every sound in human speech. Phonetic scripts are useful in linguistics, language teaching, and speech therapy, as they help clarify how words are pronounced across different languages and dialects.
