Phonetic Languages
Phonetic languages are languages in which the pronunciation of words closely matches their spelling. This means that each letter or combination of letters typically represents a specific sound, making it easier for learners to read and pronounce words correctly. Examples of phonetic languages include Spanish and Italian, where the rules of pronunciation are consistent and predictable.
In contrast, languages like English are less phonetic, as their spelling can be irregular and does not always reflect pronunciation. This can make learning to read and write in such languages more challenging for non-native speakers. Phonetic languages often facilitate quicker literacy acquisition due to their straightforward sound-letter relationships.
