Philomela
Philomela is a character from Greek mythology, known for her tragic story of violence and revenge. She is the daughter of Pandion, the king of Athens, and sister to Procne. After being assaulted by Tereus, her sister's husband, Philomela is silenced and imprisoned, but she weaves a tapestry to communicate her plight to Procne.
In a quest for justice, Procne rescues Philomela and together they take revenge on Tereus. They kill his son, serve him to Tereus as a meal, and ultimately transform into birds—Philomela becoming a nightingale, symbolizing her enduring sorrow and the power of her voice.
