Philippine Revolutionary Government
The Philippine Revolutionary Government was established during the late 19th century as a response to Spanish colonial rule. It emerged from the efforts of Filipino revolutionaries, particularly under the leadership of figures like Andres Bonifacio and later Emilio Aguinaldo. The government aimed to gain independence and establish a sovereign nation, culminating in the declaration of the Philippine Republic in 1899.
This revolutionary government faced significant challenges, including the Philippine-American War, which began shortly after the declaration of independence. The conflict arose as the United States sought to control the Philippines, leading to a struggle for sovereignty that would shape the country's future. Despite its short-lived existence, the Philippine Revolutionary Government laid the groundwork for future movements toward independence.
