Philippine Campaign
The Philippine Campaign refers to a series of military operations during the Spanish-American War in 1898, aimed at defeating Spanish colonial forces in the Philippines. The campaign began with the U.S. Navy's victory at the Battle of Manila Bay, where Admiral George Dewey led a successful naval assault against the Spanish fleet, marking a significant turning point in the war.
Following the naval victory, U.S. ground troops, alongside Filipino revolutionaries led by Emilio Aguinaldo, captured Manila in August 1898. This campaign ultimately resulted in the end of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines and the establishment of American control, leading to the subsequent Philippine-American War.
