Philadelphia School Reform Commission
The Philadelphia School Reform Commission (SRC) was established in 2001 to oversee the public school system in Philadelphia. Its primary goal was to improve educational outcomes and manage the district's budget. The SRC had the authority to make significant changes, including closing underperforming schools and implementing new educational programs.
In 2018, the SRC was dissolved, and control of the Philadelphia School District was returned to a locally elected school board. This transition aimed to enhance community involvement and accountability in the education system, allowing for more direct input from parents and residents in shaping local education policies.
