Phil Murphy is an American politician and businessman who has served as the 56th Governor of New Jersey since January 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously held the position of U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2009 to 2013 under President Barack Obama. Murphy was born on August 16, 1957, in Hammonton, New Jersey. He graduated from Harvard University and later earned an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. As governor, he has focused on issues such as education, healthcare, and environmental protection.
