Phalanx CIWS
The Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapon System) is a naval defense system designed to protect ships from incoming threats, such as missiles and aircraft. It uses a rapid-fire 20mm Gatling gun, capable of firing up to 4,500 rounds per minute, to intercept and destroy targets at close range. The system is automated, allowing it to respond quickly to threats without requiring manual intervention.
In addition to its gun, the Phalanx CIWS is equipped with radar and tracking systems that help identify and engage targets effectively. It is commonly used by various navies around the world, including the United States Navy, making it a vital component of modern naval defense strategies.
