Phaistos Disc
The Phaistos Disc is a circular clay artifact discovered in 1908 on the island of Crete. It dates back to the Minoan civilization, around 1700 BCE, and features a unique set of symbols stamped on both sides. The purpose and meaning of these symbols remain a mystery, as they have not been definitively deciphered.
The disc measures about 15 centimeters in diameter and is thought to be one of the earliest examples of written language in Europe. Its discovery at the Phaistos Palace has sparked significant interest among archaeologists and linguists, leading to various theories about its function, including possible religious or administrative uses.
