Peterborough Lift Lock
The Peterborough Lift Lock is a unique hydraulic lift lock located in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. It was built between 1896 and 1904 and is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. This engineering marvel raises and lowers boats between two levels of the Otonabee River using a system of counterweights and water.
Standing at 65 feet tall, the Peterborough Lift Lock is one of the highest lift locks in the world.
