Petaurista Alborufus
Petaurista alborufus, commonly known as the white-headed giant flying squirrel, is a large species of flying squirrel found in the forests of Southeast Asia. They are characterized by their distinctive white or cream-colored head and dark brown or gray fur on their bodies. These nocturnal animals are known for their ability to glide through the trees, using a membrane of skin that stretches from their wrists to their ankles.
These squirrels primarily inhabit tropical and subtropical forests, where they feed on fruits, nuts, and leaves. Petaurista alborufus plays a crucial role in its ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal, which helps maintain forest health and biodiversity.
