Peruvian Altiplano
The Peruvian Altiplano is a high plateau located in the Andes mountains of southern Peru. It sits at an elevation of about 3,800 meters (12,500 feet) above sea level and is characterized by its vast, flat terrain and unique ecosystems. The region is known for its cold climate, with temperatures often dropping at night, and it supports a variety of wildlife and vegetation adapted to high altitudes.
This area is also home to several important cities, including Puno, which is near Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The Altiplano is significant for its rich cultural heritage, including the traditions of the Aymara and Quechua peoples, who have lived in the region for centuries.
