Personal Prelature
A Personal Prelature is a specific type of ecclesiastical jurisdiction within the Roman Catholic Church. It allows a group of clergy and laypeople to work together in a particular mission or apostolate, regardless of geographical boundaries. This structure is designed to facilitate the Church's outreach and pastoral activities in various contexts.
The most well-known example of a Personal Prelature is the Opus Dei, which focuses on promoting the sanctification of ordinary life. Personal Prelatures are governed by a prelate, who is appointed by the Pope, and they operate under the guidelines set by the Church's canon law.
