Permissive Parent
A permissive parent is a parenting style characterized by a high level of warmth and affection but low demands and expectations. These parents are often lenient, allowing their children considerable freedom to make choices. They typically avoid setting strict rules or boundaries, believing that children learn best through experience and exploration.
While permissive parents are nurturing and supportive, this approach can lead to challenges. Children may struggle with self-discipline and responsibility, as they are not accustomed to following rules or facing consequences. This parenting style is one of the four main styles identified by psychologist Diana Baumrind, alongside authoritative, authoritarian, and neglectful parenting.
