Peregrine (Falcon)
The Peregrine Falcon is a bird of prey known for its incredible speed, making it the fastest animal on the planet. It can reach speeds of over 240 miles per hour during its characteristic hunting stoop, or dive. This species is found on every continent except Antarctica and prefers open landscapes, including mountains, cliffs, and urban areas.
Peregrine Falcons primarily feed on other birds, which they catch mid-air using their sharp talons. They have a distinctive blue-gray plumage with a white underside and dark facial markings. Their remarkable eyesight allows them to spot prey from great distances, making them highly effective hunters.
