Percy Priest Dam
Percy Priest Dam is a multi-purpose dam located on the Stone River in Tennessee, about 20 miles east of Nashville. Completed in 1968, it was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood control, water supply, and recreational opportunities. The dam creates Percy Priest Lake, which spans over 14,000 acres and offers various activities such as boating, fishing, and camping.
The dam stands 130 feet tall and stretches 3,100 feet across. It plays a crucial role in managing water levels and protecting surrounding communities from flooding. Additionally, it contributes to local ecosystems and supports wildlife habitats in the area.
