Perch
Perch are freshwater fish belonging to the family Percidae. They are commonly found in lakes, rivers, and ponds across North America, Europe, and Asia. Known for their distinctive greenish or yellowish bodies with vertical black stripes, perch are popular among anglers due to their fighting ability and tasty flesh.
The most common species is the European perch (Perca fluviatilis), while the yellow perch (Perca flavescens) is prevalent in North America. Perch typically feed on smaller fish, insects, and crustaceans, making them an important part of the aquatic food chain. They are often sought after for recreational fishing and are also farmed for commercial purposes.
