Perceptual Blind Spots
Perceptual blind spots refer to areas in our visual field where we cannot see objects due to the structure of our eyes. Each eye has a spot on the retina where the optic nerve exits, creating a gap in our vision. This blind spot is usually not noticeable because our brains fill in the missing information using surrounding visual cues.
In addition to physical blind spots, we also experience cognitive blind spots, where our biases and preconceived notions prevent us from recognizing certain information or perspectives. This can affect decision-making and interpersonal relationships, as we may overlook important details or fail to understand others' viewpoints.
