People's National Congress
The People's National Congress (PNC) is a political party in Guyana, founded in 1957. It emerged from the merger of several groups and has historically represented the interests of the African Guyanese community. The PNC has been a significant player in Guyanese politics, often alternating in power with its main rival, the People's Progressive Party (PPP).
The party's ideology is rooted in democratic socialism and nationalism. Over the years, the PNC has focused on issues such as economic development, social justice, and national unity. It has also faced criticism and challenges, particularly regarding its governance and electoral practices.
