People's Army of Vietnam
The People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), also known as the Vietnam People's Army, is the military force of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Established in 1944, it played a crucial role in the struggle for Vietnamese independence from French colonial rule and later in the conflict against the United States during the Vietnam War. The PAVN is composed of ground forces, naval forces, and air forces, and it operates under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The PAVN is known for its guerrilla warfare tactics and has a significant historical legacy in Vietnam. It has undergone modernization and restructuring since the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, focusing on improving its capabilities and adapting to contemporary security challenges. The army is also involved in various humanitarian and disaster relief efforts within the country.
